We are Kate & Steve Smith. We grew up in the Derbyshire countryside. U.K. Both from farming families, we met at an early age, married in 1973 and emigrated to New Zealand in 1974.
We soon realised that New Zealand was a great place to be. New Zealand is a country with wonderful people, beautiful isolated beaches, mighty forests, clean crystal rivers and much more.
For 34 years we have lived and farmed in the North of New Zealand. Since 1992 we have farmed at Moremonui a few kilometres up the road. We love Northland with it’s warm sub tropical climate, wonderful beaches and lakes and a great farming lifestyle.
In 2003 we bought Kaurivale, a beautiful house, 12 kms from Dargaville and 3 kms off State Highway 12 and so began Kaurivale Farmstays / Bed and Breakfast. We enjoy the company of guests from all over the world. Please have a look at our website www.kaurivale.co.nz
We also enjoy: family, friends, books, music, movies,
gardening, football, auctions, running, cycling, auctions.

To all of those people who read this I can hand on my heart say Northland is truly a wonderful place to live. However if you stay is a little shorter its the ideal place simply to relax, avoid the rat race for a while, reflect and, if your with Steve and Kate, enjoy yourself doing something different.
